Why BAACINC was founded
BAACINC is a boutique planning firm rooted in a passion for places. The founder, Michael Brown has lived experience in cities big and small across Canada, Italy, and the Netherlands. He is passionate about building strong and caring communities and has urban analysis experience across some 247 cities in 26 countries on 4 continents. Michael is passionate about solution oriented conversations and is committed to making a positive difference towards environmental, social and economic progress for customers.
Over the past 13 years Michael has contributed to significant projects involving energy retrofits, urban renewal initiatives, environmental stewardship, municipal governance and economic development initiatives. Michael's networks in urban planning are strong, especially in green building, barrier free design, affordable housing, community development, data analysis, and real estate development economics in Alberta.
In 2017, Michael Brown founded BAACINC to support a growing interest in triple bottom line projects. Projects have included place making, urban design analysis, affordable housing, energy retrofits, green building, inclusive design, development finance, and advocacy on governance issues. BACCINC is focused on delivering timely and tangible solutions with high environmental, social and economic returns on investment.
Michael, as Principal, brings well informed strategic thinking to each project with over a decade of professional experience. Michael, holds a MSc in Urban Management and Development with a focus on land & development economics and municipal economic development. He is a Registered Professional Planner and member of Canadian Institute of Planning. Michael is a GIS Professional and LEED Green Associate with advanced training in online engagement and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.
